Taste of Jaffna

May 24 @ 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Menu: Taste of Jaffna
Jaffna is the northern region of the Island of Sri lanka and the food there is known for it’s rich and complex flavours. Set in a completely accessible venue (for the convenience of those with mobility issues) this class is suitable for people with cooking skills of any level, and will teach you three of the most popular dishes of that region.

Paruppu- Jaffna style lentil curry cooked with garlic and tempered with spices.

Jaffna style chicken curry- The distinctive flavour in this dish which comes from the unique blend of spices used truly sets it apart from all the other chicken dishes

Katharikkai curry- This is a Jaffna favourite that is typically made with fried aubergines, learn how to make the healthier baked version and enjoy one of the most delectable aubergine dishes you will ever come across.

In this demonstration class, you will be provided with step-by-step intstructions on how to make Tamil food whilst taking you through the nutritional benefits of each dish. You may have the opportunity to help the instructor provide an example to the class, but this will depend on your comfort and skill level.

You will get to taste all the dishes we make and will leave with the full knowledge of how to source, prepare and create these dishes, a printed copy of the recipe and hopefully having had a wonderful experience in the kitchen and meeting other culinary enthusiasts. Plus you don’t have to wash up- Dinner without the clean-up always sounds great to me!

Snacks and drinks upon arrival

Copy of all the recipes

Gift bag and samples of all the spices and mixtures required to recreate the dishes in your homes

Taste and share all the food prepared
